Sign-up for text messaging
If you haven't already, it's super easy to receive text messages from me throughout the year.  It is a quick and easy way for me to let you know I have updated the website, or if something last minute has come up and I need to let you know right away.  Just text @26ke47to 81010 to add your number to the list.  Feel free to add as many numbers as you need (dad, grandma, etc).  I used this last year and it worked great!  You can text "stop" at anytime to the number to remove yourself from the list but I'm sure you will find it easy to keep up with the class through it!

Take Home Folders  Take Home Folders will begin coming home on Monday.  They will not have homework in them this week but I would like the students to get into the routine of turning them in daily.  Please remember that your child needs to bring his/her take home folders to and from school everyday.   Homework will officially begin Monday the 22nd.

Volunteers  I am so pleased with the number of parents who have expressed an interest in helping in the class and on field trips!!  Thank you!!  I am working on organizing volunteers and will keep you updated.  Please be sure to turn in all your paperwork asap so we can get you on the schedule.

Homework Please check the homework tab for this week's homework.

Sight Words Learning sight words is crucial to your child's early reading success.  Your child will bring home his/her sight word flashcards beginning Monday.  Please practice them nightly and when your child can read them fluently, return them in their take home folder for testing.  I will send a new list when they pass it.  Your child will continue on as they pass lists and receive a prize when they have learned all their kindergarten sight words.  Thanks for your support!

May 30 - June 3

We are almost done!  We have a lot of fun events coming up as the last day gets closer!  There is no homework or share homework this week!

Important Dates:

June 3:  Minimum Day
June 8:  Walking field trip to fire station
June 9:  End of Kindergarten Celebration at 10:00
             Minimum Day
             Last day of school

Field Trip:
We will be leaving around 9:45 to walk to the station.  We have about 14 adults going!!  That's great news.  If you aren't able to come, rest assured, we have plenty of adult eyes!  We will return around 11:15 to have lunch.

Kindergarten Field Day:
This will begin right away on the last day of school.  We need about 5 board approved parent volunteers for this event.  We will have stations set up and all kinder students will rotate through the centers.  We will finish up field day with a kindergarten picnic on the playground.  I will be sending info home on Tuesday about what your child has chose to contribute to our filed day/picnic.  Please send in your item as soon as possible.  Thanks for your support!

Kindergarten Celebration:
This is by far my favorite event of the year as well as the most difficult one ofr me to get through .  I want to warn you, as well as the students that I tend to be very emotional and will do my best.  I mentioned that I would love for every student to have at least one adult present for the kindergarten celebration.  YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE BOARD APPROVED TO ATTEND!  Everyone is welcome to come and it can be quite crowded.  It is a special event that you won't want to miss.  This will begin at 10 am in the classroom on June 9.  I will unlock the gate by our classroom door.

Report Cards:
Report cards will come home on the final day of kindergarten.

Summer:
I can not stress how important it is for your child to continue reading daily over the summer.  If they do not, they will regress and could possibly begin 1st grade reading below grade level.  Be sure they are reading their book boxes at home and check the library for leveled readers.
