January 25-30

Hi everyone!  For those of you who may not know, one of our student's father was shot 7 times in the December 2 terrorist attack.  We are so grateful he is alive and he is working hard to fully recover.  Please keep the Reid family in your thoughts and prayers and if you have the ability to provide any amount of financial support, it would be appreciated unmeasurably. He has a long road ahead of him and a fund has been set up to help take any financial stress and burden off of him and his wife so that all their focus can be on his full recovery.  I also ask that you take caution if you choose to talk to your kiddos about this.  They are young and unaware of what they say many times.  This family is working on healing from a tragedy of catastrophic size unimaginable to most of us.  I want our student to be comfortable and feel safe in our classroom and not have to be faced with any questions or comments.  Thanks for your understanding.

I am providing the link here to his amazing story of survival where you can leave an encouraging comment for him or a donation if you feel led.

Writing
We have been working hard on learning how to write personal narrative stories in class.  You should start to see your child writing a beginning sentence with 3 supporting details.  Please encourage this on the share homework.  With the 2nd semester under way, you will start to see some huge growths academically from your child.  It is exciting!
