Week of April 30th

Our Mother's Day invitations are coming home on Monday in your child's Take Home Folder.  Please read and return the RSVP slip as soon as possible.  We would like for EVERY student to have someone at the tea with them so if you are unable to make it, please try to arrange for someone else to be there for that time and indicate who that person will be on the RSVP slip.  This is a very special event in kindergarten and we look forward to seeing you there.  Please contact me if you have any questions.

We will be studying how things grow and change and I would like every student to bring in a baby picture of themselves to discuss.  Please place it in an envelope and clearly label the envelope with your child's name.  I will return the picture unharmed to you very soon.  Thanks for your support!

Week of April 23rd

Hope you enjoyed the weekend!  Only 7 more weeks of Kindergarten!!  With that being said, our biggest push is for those reading below grade level.  Reading and re-reading at home is going to make the biggest difference for these kiddos along with daily practice of their sight word cards.  I can not stress this enough.  It needs to happen EVERYDAY.  Our goal is a level 5 or higher by the end of kindergarten.  You can look on the back of your child's guided reading books to see their instructional level. Beginning this week, I am going to leave the guided reading books we have read each day in your child's book bag so they can not only read their new book of the day, but also re read their old books we have read this week.  I will return all the books on Friday and start over the following week.   Keep in mind that lost books must be replaced and the cost of Cram's guided reading books is 10$/book.  If you do not wish for your child to have more than 1 book at a time, just let me know via a private message.  Thanks for your support and feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Our ducks are set to hatch on May 2nd!

Week of April 16th

Thank you to those who donated white Xerox paper!  I have copies now.  If you are still thinking of sending some in, I could definitely use it!  And thank you to those who donated superhero items for our carnival basket!  The basket turned out wonderful!  Be sure to come by the carnival and buy some tickets and have a chance to win some really great baskets!  The carnival is April 20th!

Be sure to check your child's Take Home Folder on Monday for a bright yellow 'Return to Cram' form.  Please fill that out and return it asap.  It will ensure your child's space in first grade.  Thank you!

I can not stress enough the importance of sight words at this point in the year.  Your child should know the green and blue list at this point.  Please remember to practice sight words nightly.  Students who are struggling with sight words are at risk of not meeting the level 5 reading goal by the end of the year.  You can look on the back of your child's guided reading book to see their instructional level.  Our goal is a 5 or above by the end of May.  Thanks for your support and feel free to contact me if you have questions as to how to help your child reach that goal.

Your child may have shared with you that we will be hatching ducklings in our classroom as we learn about oviparous animals and farm animals this month.  Our ducks are set to hatch on May 2nd!

Week of April 9th

We had a great first week back!  The students got right back into the routine and were ready to be good listeners and learners!

I am still in need of white Xerox paper.  As teachers, we only get a set number of copies per year.  Because I make so many paper books for the kiddos, I usually run out of copies.  Soooo, I'm out of copies.  If you are out and about over the vacation and can donate a ream or 2 of white xerox paper, I would greatly appreciate it

We are collecting superhero items for our classroom carnival basket.  We are hoping each student can contribute at least 1 item to the basket.  Please send items into the classroom before Friday the 13th.  Thank you!

Our school carnival is coming up on April 20th.  A green pre-order paper came home and these can be sent back to me if you'd like to pre-order tickets for the carnival.  They are also in need of parent volunteers and ez ups.  If you help with any of this, let me know.  This is a fun event that we hope you can make it to!

Your child may have shared with you that we will be hatching ducklings in our classroom as we learn about oviparous animals and farm animals this month.  Our ducks are set to hatch on May 2nd!
